What is your definition of success?
You earn some money and feel extremely happy. Having a big house and a car and being respected by everyone will make you feel happy. You have a warm family and friends who make you happy daily. The list goes on and on.
The ultimate goal of success is a feeling of happiness, right?
These are needs that everyone experiences, and they all deserve respect.
But one day, you find that what you are pursuing cannot satisfy the joy in your heart. You need to turn around. Scan through your entire past, present, and future desires. Each fact is a dot. You need to connect the dots to find yourself. Find what makes you truly happy.
Happiness is waking up every morning with a fire in your heart, a fire that burns the fuel to push you forward.
Happiness is when you see yourself making more progress than yesterday:
- Ting ting… Your account increased by a few numbers, but it won’t make you sad if it doesn’t jump in numbers.
- You smile at your parents, wife, children, and friends and give good things to each other.
- You gain new knowledge, practice a new skill, and feel like you’ve done something meaningful.
- And be happy when the legacy you leave to the world continues to grow and multiply.

Happiness is when you look in the mirror and wonder about “it”.
That’s it.
Don’t limit your definition of success to society’s standards. Expand it. You are much larger than it. True success is living on your own terms. It is your own definition tied to your own profound experience. Experiences that make you feel truly happy, not through social approval.
Remember, when lying in the hospital bed, count each last breath. The moment the reflection appears, you don’t count money; you measure the experiences and legacies you leave behind that make the world better. And maybe “someone” will measure the purity of your soul and give you a softer “chair” somewhere far away.
